7 1/2" SEA CHEST BECKETS -MARLINSPIKE HANDLES-RED STRIPE

Description

Pictured are handmade marlinspike crafted handles for a sea chest.  they are made of 100% cotton cord, have real leather washers and is dipped in a clear sealer.  They measure 7 1/2" from the top of the bolt to the bottom of the grip.
My father taught me the art of marlinspike knot tying when I was 10 years old.  Some of the knots used on the beckets were originated on the whaling ships back in the 1800's.  Fancy knotting is one of the oldest of the folk arts and is an object of beauty, utility and is an art that never grows old.
A paper template is included with the beckets with the exact size that the cleat should be.  The shape of the cleat is optional.  It is 2" wide, 1/2" hole and is 1 1/4" deep.
The beckets can also be used as a shed/barn door handle.  Another idea is to place them on a wooden plaque and display them on a wall.  They  make a lovely addition to any nautical decor.
